I’ve had such an overwhelming response from people about the last few emails I sent out, and the topic that seemed to affect people the most was that of Shoulds!
To be honest, learning about ‘Should’s, and how to let them go, changed my life.
I spent YEARS putting pressure on myself, trying to achieve more, do more, achieve some un-reachable level of perfection. I worked 10-12 hour days, and would finish each day with this feeling of twisting pressure in my belly, convinced that I hadn’t done enough. In my head, there was the voice of a drill sergeant beating me up with lists of 'should's: should have got more done, should be working faster, should be finished with that by now, should have gone to the gym, should, should, should.
Then one day, I saw the voice for what it was:
Fear.
The drill sergeant in my head was afraid that without it, I’d never get anything done.
It didn’t know how to trust my Core, or to trust the bigger picture. It had had never been shown that I had my own natural rhythm, and was actually quite capable of progressing in life without self-flagellation.

Within our course, Building Resilience, Rosalee and I have a massive section on ‘should’s, because these ways that we ‘should’ ourselves are one of the biggest things standing in the way of our own resilience.

We’d like you to write down, and bring with you, a list of your current ‘should’s. It doesn’t need to be an exhaustive list-- two or three will do— and in the webinar, we’re going to guide you through one of the exercises in Building Resilience: releasing your ‘should’s. You’ll get to see and experience for yourself how GOOD it feels to drop the extra pressure.
